Baldwin Technology Company, Inc., the leading manufacturer of performance - and quality - enhancing newspaper press ancillary equipment, introduces its new Tower Clean concept at IFRA 2003 in Leipzig, Germany. Tower Clean consists of products from Baldwin's full range of automated cleaning, dampening and water control systems.

Developed for single width press users, the modular Tower Clean concept enables printers to invest in a starter package to which they can add systems and increase automation as and when needed. Peter Hultberg, director marketing & business development newspaper segment, says: "Tower Clean is ideal for single wide newspaper printers who are looking for a flexible and cost-effective approach to increase efficiency and print quality. Printers have different requirements, therefore, it's important to offer customers ancillary equipment that suits the operational need of all printers."

In addition to the Tower Clean concept, Baldwin launches a new enhancement to its LithoSpray™ dampening system ‚ the S16 controller. S16 is an internal closed loop control system, specifically designed to monitor the performance of the complete system operation, including water and temperature control. LithoSpray™ demonstrated at Baldwin's stand also incorporates its new internal cleaning system, Constant C, launched at last year's IFRA exhibition.
Baldwin's unique LithoSpray™ dampening spray system uses patented valves, thus allowing a higher spraying cycle frequency, delivery of precise water volumes as well as uniform dampening of the plate cylinder. Due to a short reaction time, the required dampening level is achieved quickly, resulting in faster make-ready times, and reduced start-up waste, inks, fountain solution and energy. The fully enclosed and contact-less system increases productivity for printers and offers fast return on investment.

Providing a gentle air curtain over the front of the spray nozzles, Constant C is the first internal cleaning system of its kind in the world. Constant C keeps spray nozzles free from blockage by dust and ink and ensures uniform water spray. Maintenance requirements of the dampening system are therefore significantly reduced.

Baldwin's IMPACT® Global automatic blanket cleaning system is the world's most environmentally sound automatic blanket cleaning technology available today. It includes compact cleaning bars, control cabinets with operator's display and PREPAC® supply rolls. The PREPAC® wash cloth rolls are impregnated with an environmentally-friendly cleaning agent, thus keeping the agent completely contained in the roll and virtually eliminating solvent handling.

The absence of complex operating software and low maintenance of the system not only further increase productivity but make IMPACT® Global the easiest system to use. Operators simply choose the press units to be cleaned and select the degree of cleaning required according to the type of work being printed.

Interactive multimedia product presentations with 3-D animations will feature Baldwin's market-leading systems and technologies at the exhibition. IMPACT® Global, LithoSpray™ and Constant C can all be retrofitted on existing presses or installed on new equipment.
