Continuously at the forefront of product developments that increase the efficiency and print quality of newspaper printers, Baldwin Technology Company, Inc , the leading manufacturer of performance-and quality-enhancing newspaper press ancillary equipment, demonstrates the capabilities of its new Litho Spray™ Maxima spray dampening system and the enhanced IMPACT® Global Flex Technology at Ifra Expo 2004.
Litho Spray™ Maxima is Baldwin’s most recent addition to its Newspaper Grade products and the only spray dampening system designed to print on virtually any coated or uncoated stock at any press speed and without compromising on quality. This state-of-the-art technology, available only from Baldwin, comprises an advanced control system to apply the minimum amount of water necessary to uniformly dampen the plate.
Litho Spray™ Maxima includes Constant C as a standard feature which keeps nozzle-tips clean for longer periods. The elimination of nozzle clogging adds immense value to customers by resulting in even water distribution, thus ensuring a consistent print quality and considerably reducing system maintenance. The Litho Spray™ Maxima spray bar is easily accessible, providing simple handling during the printing process.
Peter Hultberg, deputy managing director Baldwin Jimek AB, comments: “Printers will greatly benefit from the enhanced Litho Spray™ Maxima. Due to the use of patented technology, the required dampening level is achieved quickly, resulting in faster make-ready times, and reduced start-up waste, inks and fountain solution. An added benefit when installing the system on presses with dryers is the vast energy saving that can be achieved due to its ability to run on lower, dryer temperatures. The stainless steel fully enclosed and contact-less Litho Spray Maxima increases productivity and offers fast return on investment for printers.”
Also on display for the first time will be Baldwin’s IMPACT®Flex Technology Automatic Blanket Cleaning System, combining the economies of dry cloth technology with the environmental efficiency of IMPACT® Prepac technology in one single system and thereby offering the customer total flexibility. Baldwin’s IMPACT®Flex Technology is the only system on the market to provide printers with the opportunity to choose between different cloth technology suppliers. Depending on printers needs, IMPACT®Flex Technology can be supplied with Baldwin’s PREPACÒ wash cloth rolls or conventional dry cloth technology, thus providing printers with a wider choice.
The ecological advances of the IMPACT® system make it the most cost- and environmentally efficient automatic blanket cleaning system available for the newspaper market. Only the exact amount of low VOC cleaning agent required is applied to the blanket and retain ink and lint residues after cleaning.
Baldwin is also expanding its consumables portfolio by adding a new Prepac technology called 1646+ to the existing 1646 Prepac cloth technology. The new Prepac 1646+ offers enhanced cleaning performance as well as extremely low VOC levels of less than two percent, thus consistently meeting new standards for low blanket swell, which is being mandated by OEMs and blanket manufacturers.
In addition, Baldwin will exhibit its Tower Clean System, a blanket cleaning system developed for single width press users. The modular concept of this technology enables printers to invest in a starter package to which they can add systems and increase automation as and when needed. When comparing to complete manual cleaning processes, users of the technology comment on the improvement of efficiency and print quality as well as system maintenance reduction.
Concludes Peter Hultberg: “At Baldwin, our aim is to be one step ahead of the game and our unique and innovative Newspaper Grade products demonstrate that. Baldwin is the preferred supplier of press ancillary equipment to many major newspaper printers, which indicates the unmatched performance and quality associated with our products.”
In addition, Baldwin will also demonstrate a range of its press protection technology and provide product and interactive multimedia presentations to customers on its market leading Newspaper Grade products.
