Baldwin Signs Exclusive Worldwide Agreement with Hildebrand Systeme for Web Cleaning Technology
4/18/2005
ARLOV, Sweden, March 18, 2005 - In a move that will enhance its position in the automatic cleaning systems market, Baldwin Jimek, Arlov, Sweden (a wholly owned subsidiary of Baldwin Technology Company, Inc) has signed a worldwide distribution agreement with German manufacturer Hildebrand Systeme. The agreement, which came into effect on 15th March 2005, gives Baldwin the exclusive global marketing rights for the web offset market for Hildebrand Systeme’s Jetstream and Jetvac web cleaning systems.
“The agreement with Hildebrand Systeme, a leader in the field of high performance web cleaning, will enhance our competitive position within the worldwide automatic cleaning systems market, worth some $250 million per annum,” says Baldwin vice president Karl Puehringer. “Baldwin operates on a truly global basis and we continually examine technologies and solutions that can expand the boundaries and size of the web offset cleaning systems market and our share of it. Baldwin and Hildebrand Systeme each bring strong competencies to this partnership and we are committed to working closely together to insure both companies achieve their stated objectives.”
Birger Hansson, managing director of Baldwin Jimek AB, adds: “Jetstream and Jetvac will be important extensions of our existing automatic cleaning systems product range, which will enable us to offer new value-added solutions for our OEM and end user partners. We are now in the unique position of being able to objectively align the technology, performance and price to best suit customers’ requirements, whether they are in the newspaper, semi commercial or retail printing segments.
“In some applications Jetstream 1000 will be installed in combination with our IMPACTflex fully automatic cleaning system, to maintain the required print quality longer by reducing the rate of lint build-up on the blankets during the production run. We can therefore extend the interval between blanket cleaning and use shorter blanket cleaning programs. This increases available press time, while also reducing the annual consumable and running costs associated with traditional blanket cleaning systems. Printers can be assured that they will get the most cost effective and environmentally efficient cleaning systems available by coming to Baldwin.”
Christian Trimborn, managing director of Hildebrand Systeme, says: “In Baldwin we have chosen a partner with an extremely strong strategic vision in the web offset market and with the global resources necessary to maximise the market potential for our Jetstream and Jetvac web cleaning systems.”

About Hildebrand Systeme GmbH
Hildebrand Systeme GmbH specialises in producing custom made solutions to extract dust and fibres from moving webs or sheets of paper, cardboard, film and many other industrially produced or converted materials. The company, based in Maulburg, Germany, was formed in 1999. Its equipment can be supplied as an OEM product on a new press or retrofitted to existing machines at the printer’s premises.
Jetstream 1000 and Jetvac 1000
The Jetstream 1000 is a non contact web cleaning system that helps improve profitability by reducing downtime on the press and increasing print quality. The system is available for use with web widths from 100 – 7,000 mm and for either single or double sided applications. The Jetvac 1000 uses an innovative non contact method of removing particles and fibres attached to the surface of poor quality papers. It is available for use with webs from 500 – 2,300 mm. Both systems can substantially reduce production costs, dramatically reducing blanket wash and contamination of the fountain solution.
