Active protection against wrap-ups

A web break at full production speed is a well-known risk in web offset printing and can never be completely excluded. In heatset web offset printing, this problem is particularly critical in the dryer area. The danger in case of a web break is that the guideless end of the web is pulled back into the last printing unit and wrapped up together with the entering web. Long press stops and serious damage to the blanket and plate cylinders as well as other mechanical components in the printing unit are the likely consequences of this kind of wrap-up.
