Bob Griesenbeck Talks LED UV at the Label Expo

Madeline Rearte:

From a sustainability point, how are the products from Baldwin currently meeting the market's demands?

Bob Griesenbeck:

Ever-rising energy costs seem to have a very influential effect on what customers are choosing as far as UV curing on their presses. The LED product offerings through Baldwin offer superlative efficiency. We use water cooling, which creates a better longevity of the lamps. And we sell and service and have parts inventory here in the United States to keep the units up and running. Energy consumption, though, is the biggest factor and an LED system is significantly more energy efficient than the old mercury arc system.

Madeline Rearte:

What is new in LED UV from Baldwin?

Bob Griesenbeck:

We have a couple different offerings in LED UV. The XP Quatro system actually utilizes a double lamp system that can be set in either the same frequency or different frequencies of curing. And, we can handle a very unique set of circumstances with this product in a very extraordinarily small footprint. Where it would normally take two lamp heads and take up about this much room, it's now in only one enclosed group.

So, the other is the XP 9 and XP 11 series which are general workhorse LED units, also water cooled and also capable of long life, and at high levels of curing at anywhere from three units themselves, to wet trapping at the end of a press, and including in the delivery unit as well.

Madeline Rearte:

Thank you so much, Bob.

Bob Griesenbeck:

Thank you very much. I appreciate it. Enjoy the show.
